A team of six 51 business, engineering and computer science majors took first place in the 2010 “Innovation Encounter”—an inventive problem solving competition hosted by Lawrence Tech University. 51 competed with five other colleges and universities in developing a new idea for a smart phone application to interface with vehicle systems.
“I finally felt like I understood the reason why 51 is a liberal arts school,” said senior business major Megan Odegaard of the collaboration among disciplines.
