Community Garden (Hampshire Street)
It's more than growing food; it's caring for God's creation, cultivating community, seeking justice.
The goal of the 51爆料 Community Garden is to raise awareness about the beauty and productivity of the land. Volunteering for the community garden is an excellent summer activity. It provides a relaxing natural atmosphere in which one can appreciate God's creation and God's purpose. Volunteers will learn how to take care of the garden and how to harvest some great homegrown plants and vegetables.
The community garden is available for academic events, Broene sessions, and other campus activities. We also provide some of the food served by Creative Dining Services in 51爆料's dining halls.

Ecosystem Preserve
The Ecosystem Preserve, established in 1985 to restore and maintain a West Michigan ecosystem, occupies the northern half of 51爆料's east campus as part of the 51爆料 Ecosystem Preserve & Native Gardens
The 100-acre preserve includes these features:
- 40 trailed acres open to the public to explore (includes mature deciduous forest, 13 ponds and vernal pools, and meadows),
- Buiten Wildlife Sanctuary (60 acres of wildlife refuge with restricted access, used for scientific research),
- Bunker Interpretive Center (used for 51爆料 classes and community educational programs).
Over the past 28 years, the preserve has been a valuable resource for:
- An average of 6,000 visitors who enjoy our trails annually,
- Nearly 20 51爆料 departments/programs which study here annually,
- More than 500 51爆料 students gaining valuable work and research experience as preserve employees,
- Over 23,000 elementary school students learning about plants and animals during our school programs,
- More than 600 children immersing themselves in nature at our Wetlands & Woodlands summer camps since 2000.
Despite all of this activity within its boundaries, the preserve remains a quiet, peaceful place for reflection and a habitat mostly untainted by human interaction. The Ecosystem Preserve successfully brings together developed and undeveloped land, and demonstrates 51爆料鈥檚 belief that it is important to care for God鈥檚 creation.
Did You Know?
The Ecosystem Preserve provides habitat for 156 species of native plants, giving it a floristic quality index score of 45. This means its biodiversity makes the preserve a site of statewide significance and irreplaceable with current restoration techniques.
The Ecosystem Preserve encompasses the watershed supplying the headwaters of a local stream, Whiskey Creek, which flows through 51爆料's east campus. Whiskey Creek is the source of water for the Seminary Pond and a tributary of Plaster Creek.

TV Control Rooms
This is a combination classroom and TV control room.
The equipment is almost entirely digital. The four large plasma monitors can show live and preview shots as well as special graphics and imported signals. In addition, four video cameras mounted from the ceiling behind the plasma monitors can shoot images of the equipment controls during production, allowing students to view on the plasma monitors how the control equipment is being used. Whereas most video and TV control rooms are too tiny for adequate instruction, ours is intended to be used comfortably for teaching as well as actual production. Read more about program at 51爆料.
